What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy is the service provided by an Occupational therapist (OT). OTs are licensed healthcare professionals dedicated to helping people of all ages participate in their daily activities. OTs help clients overcome obstacles, which may stem from physical, cognitive, emotional, mental, environmental, and/or institutional factors.
Interventions are based on client goals and may include:
- Teaching and practicing new skills.
- Adapting activities or modifying the environment.
- Providing equipment or assistive devices.
- Offering guidance and education.
- Collaborating with others.
